Behind the Scenes

It's unclear who's idea it was originally to make a sequel to the first Chubbulon film, but at one point or another, Sean, Mike, and pretty much everyone except for Travis suggested doing it. Considering that fact, the creation of this film was bound to happen eventually. Unlike the first Chubbulon where everyone involved had been up all night, were extremely tired, and there was a rough "script", Chubbulon Pupu: Tupu was completely improvised and random. Also, Travis was not involved with the production process unlike the first in which he "wrote" and directed.

So You Wanna Know More:

  • The original working title was "Chubby Chubbulation" coined by Sean
  • Before filming commenced, Peter, Mike, Rizzotti, Sean, Travis, and Katie ate delicious pie at Marie Calendar's
  • This was the first time in four months that Sean got involved with a Naked Castle production
  • The green potato looking creature in the opening shot next to the microwave was considered as a 4th character in the movie, possibly an evil villain known as "The Chubbulon Harvester". Rizzotti and Mike filmed an ending sequence with him but his role was cut because it sucked
  • The scene with Sean holding both Chubs saying "hello?" over and over was the result of putting batteries in the chubbulons. We discovered that batteries make their noses light up and they produce a weird sound. Sean thought it was voice activated
  • There were also lots of extra scenes we didn't use including Peter banging the piano with the chubs and a stop-motion animation (part of which made it into the film as live action during the very first clip).
  • This film had more deleted footage than the original Chubbulon which was cut down to 32sec from 1:30mins

Crew Comments

"Stupid to the extreme!" -Rizzotti
"Only while filming a chubbulon video can I understand why John Waters even bothers making movies." -Peter
"Best sequel ever." -Zorn
"That's fucking stupid. I love it." -Sean
"The quotes don't live up to the first and the over-all feel deviates too much. I had fun editing it, though, and the ending "dance" is very nice, even though I doubted Rizzotti, as usual, while he was setting up the over-head angle." -Travis
"I like the first one more than this because we were at least taking the final cut seriously; the scene with Sean is really dumb and so is the scene after that and the following. I hate it." -Mike
